How the market report works

Straight talk on where the numbers come from, what they mean, and how we keep every report anonymous.

Two data sets, one answer

Most pricing tools show you one thing: what other people are asking. We blend that with what cars actually sell for — real recorded sale prices — so the number reflects the market that clears, not just the market that's listed. Based on thousands of live dealer listings and real sale records nationwide.

Where your price sits

For any vehicle, we build a price distribution from comparable listings and place your price on it. Under the 40th percentile reads as under market, up to the 75th as at market, above that as over market. When we have enough recent sales, the verdict also tells you what cars like yours actually sell for and how long they take.

Anonymous by construction

Comparable rows are stripped of anything identifying — no VIN, no stock number, no dealer name, no city or ZIP. Mileage is rounded, listing age is bucketed, and no single dealer can dominate the sample. You see the market, never who is in it.
